UAPB Receives $9,141 from McDonald’s HBCU Fry Donation Program

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) received a $9,141 donation from McDonald’s restaurants across Central Arkansas to support campus student services programs. A special HBCU-branded deal in the McDonald’s App that kicked off during Black History Month 2022 allowed McDonald’s customers, HBCU alumni, students, and others to show their support for area schools. Local McDonald’s owner-operators donated a portion of the sale of each HBCU-branded deal, contributing to this donation to UAPB.

UAPB Student leaders accept McDonald’s check to support campus student services programs.

“Our historically black colleges and universities in Arkansas are cornerstone institutions in our communities that provide nurturing learning environments for students,” McDonald’s Owner-Operator Darryl Webb said. “UAPB plays a vital role in creating economic opportunity. We are proud to work together with our loyal customers to support Arkansas HBCU students.”  HBCUs in Arkansas include Arkansas Baptist College, Philander Smith College and Shorter College in Little Rock, and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

At UAPB, the funds will be used to support student services on campus which offer programs ranging from learning opportunities and growth challenges to leadership development. UAPB student leaders and Dean Frank Dorsey were on hand to receive the check presentation. According to Frank Dorsey, UAPB Dean of Student Involvement & Leadership, “We’d like to thank McDonald’s and its owner-operators, as we will be able to utilize this donation to enhance our students’ collegiate experience.

The donation to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff was part of a series of McDonald’s check presentations held across Central Arkansas in December supporting HBCUs. McDonald’s also supports education through programs like Archways to Opportunity, a tuition assistance program that promotes opportunity and mobility for McDonald’s diverse employee community, and three major scholarship programs, including Thurgood Marshall Black and Positively Golden Scholarships, HACER® National Scholarships and McDonald’s/APIA Scholarship program.
