Dr. Aboozar Mosleh

Dr. Aboozar (Salman) Mosleh has joined the Chemistry and Physics Department at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as an Assistant Professor of Nanoscience Physics. Dr. Mosleh received his PhD in in Microelectronics-Photonics at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. With an educational background in Physics and Photonics, Dr. Mosleh’s main areas of research are in Silicon Photonics, Epitaxial Growth of Semiconductor, Micro/Nano Optoelectronic Devices, Integrated Microwave Photonics, and Integrated Circuits Design.  He has been working on multiple projects funded by NASA, NSF, DARPA, and DURIP for the growth of high-quality CMOS compatible group IV materials as well as design, fabrication, and characterization of micro/nano optoelectronic devices.

Dr. Mosleh is currently collaborating with UAF on a NASA funded project for SiGe on Sapphire for fabrication of high speed electronics devices.  He is also working with other faculties at UAPB in developing a unique set up for research on integrated photonic devices.  The result of his scientific contribution has been published in over 60 research papers in refereed journals and proceedings.  He has also given several talks at national and international conferences. He has one U.S. patent application and several are pending.

Dr. Grant Wangila, Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Physics is grateful for the support of Chancellor Dr. Laurence Alexander, the Biotechnology and Nanoscience Committee and financial support from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Post-secondary Education, Strengthening Institutions, Title III, Part B, Historically Black Colleges and Universities Program. Dr. Mosleh will be expected to work closely with the Committee to come up with proposals for establishing new courses, programs and research that support training minority students in Biotechnology and Nanoscience on UAPB campus. He will also develop effective and engaging undergraduate and graduate courses in Nanoscience physics, as well as mentor and advise students regarding careers in the discipline.

Dr. Mosleh served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Arkansas Tech University and was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the University of Arkansas before joining UAPB.  He has been leading research groups of graduate and undergraduate students during his previous appointments.  Dr. Mosleh plans to collaborate with UAPB faculty and other scientists from institutions around the country in writing proposals for more funding from different agencies to support and train UAPB students in Nanoscience Physics research. This endeavor will assist in alleviating the disparity of minority in Nanoscience discipline.
