PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Alexis Cole, Spring 2014 University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) graduate and 84th Miss UAPB is one of 10 campus queens to appear in the September issue of Ebony Magazine as part of their HBCU Queens feature.
“My experience being featured in Ebony Magazine as one of the Top 10 HBCU Queens was extremely overwhelming!,” exclaimed the Memphis, Tennessee native. “It was truly an honor to be in the presence of so many influential African-American young ladies.”
The queens were also able to meet the Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, who was extremely outgoing and charismatic. The photo shoot was also a treat, according to Alexis.
“They treated us like true royalty. From the designer clothes we wore for the shoot to the celebrity hair and make-up artist who made us look beautiful, the entire experience was amazing!”
They were not only able to connect on a professional level but a personal level as well. She continues to keep in touch with all of the HBCU Queens that were featured in the magazine along with Ebony’s Editor-in-chief Mitzi Miller.
Alexis is currently in the evaluation process to be chosen for the AT&T Leadership Program in Atlanta, Georgia. While she recently worked as a social media intern at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, she plans to start her own communications company, Alexis Cole Inc. The company will be able to expand your social media presence such Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc. according to Cole and will also be responsible for doing public relations for positive events that are going on in the community. The goal of her company is to give charities, positive organizations, and events great media coverage and effective social media presence for their brand.
“My goal is to be the best young African-American woman I can be,” said Alexis. “Now that I have graduated from college, this is the time for me to truly follow my dreams and give it my all. The sky is the limit for me.”
