UAPB students to sing in HBCU choir in Bahamas

 George St., Nassau, Bahamas – University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) students and Vesper Choir members Garry Grant and Maya Ellington will join with singers from other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to present a One Voice U.S. – Bahamian Music Showcase on May 21.

 A sophomore music education major from Savannah, Georgia, Garry Grant is a voice student of Dr. Heidi Gordon and member of the Vesper Choir where he sings tenor. Maya Ellington is a junior music/sound recording technology major from Little Rock, Arkansas and sings mezzo soprano in the Vesper Choir.

 The combined choir consists of members from the International Concert – Combined Choir, 105 Voices as “One Voice” Choir, U.S. Historically Black Colleges and Universities “The 105 Voices of History HBCU National Choir”,

College of the Bahamas Choir and The Bahamas National Youth Choir. Performances will include Negro Spirituals, selections from the Classical, Jazz/Gospel genre and will also feature African American and Caribbean composers.
