UAPB student blazing the trail to success

Jaeden Wells

University of Arkansas Pine Bluff student Jaeden Wells has raised the standard for freshmen. The Arlington, Texas native is a rising sophomore majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing that is very involved on campus and exemplifies strong leadership ability.

Wells took the advice of her academic advisor and registered with the Office of Career Services her first year at the University.  Since then, she has been afforded the opportunity to participate in special events offered through the office.  As a freshman, she obtained Cooperative Education experience at The Strong Company in Pine Bluff, Arkansas as a Marketing Intern where she received an exceptional rating on her work performance.  For this opportunity, Wells received a salary ranging from $9-$12 per hour. She also received six hours of academic credit for electives in her major. She effectively balanced work and academics by maintaining a 4.0 grade point average for this semester.

Wells was also selected to attend the National Sales Network Student Sales & Marketing Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in the fall of 2017. The conference is one of the most powerful sales and marketing development program available to diverse students interested in marketing and/or sales. Students accepted into the program will receive Sales & Marketing training, learn about careers in the field, compete in case competitions and interview with hiring companies for internships and full time positions.

In addition to all of the other great accomplishments, Wells acquired a summer internship with Ben E. Keith in Little Rock, Arkansas. She received the opportunity from the connection with her Career Coach, Oscar Fuller, in the Office of Career Services.  Her salary range is $20-$22 per hour.

According to Shirley Cherry, Director of Career Services, “Wells is definitely blazing the trail toward her success.  She is taking advantage of all of the opportunities available through the Office of Career Services that will make her more marketable upon graduation.”
