Area cattlemen will meet Thursday, April 13, at 6 p.m. at the Jefferson County Extension Service office, 500 S. Idaho Street, in Pine Bluff.
Dr. Robert Stark Jr., University of Arkansas at Monticello professor of agriculture economics, will provide information on current production costs and breakeven prices associated with beef cattle. Also, he will discuss surviving low cattle prices with alternative feeds.
Anthony Whittington’s presentation on pasture weed control includes a power point presentation by Dr. John Boyd, retired Extension weed scientist. Whittington is the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service county agent in Jefferson County. Dameion White,
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Cooperative Extension Program associate, will discuss EQIP conservation practices for pastures.
The program should be of interest to all area ranchers, said Dr. English, head of the Small Farm Program at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). The program is co-sponsored by the UAPB Small Farm Program and the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service.
