The 7th Annual Bi-State Horticulture Conference is scheduled for Thursday, March 30, at the Southwest Center City in Texarkana, Texas. The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration and end at 5 p.m.
Conference sessions include vineyard establishment, benefit of bats, irrigation for fruits and vegetables, backyard birch tapping and syrup basics, small acreage horticultural crops, and heirloom bulbs and ornamentals.
The conference includes a complimentary lunch. Angelia Moore, Prairie View A&M University Extension associate, will be the luncheon speaker. Her topic will be the AgriAbility Program, which provides education and technical assistance to producers and farm workers with disabilities. Other presenters are Cooperative Extension agents and specialists and local agriculturists and specialists. Dr. Henry English, head of the Small Farm Program at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), will conduct a session on the economic potential of small scale vegetable production.
Attendees are urged to bring seeds or bulbs to swap with others at the conference.
The Southwest Center City is located at 3222 W. Seventh St., Texarkana, Texas. The Horticulture Conference is sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Programs of Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) and the School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences.
