Eight University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) students are currently participating in the Cooperative Education and internship at Stant for the fall 2016 semester.

UAPB and Stant USA Corporation made the partnership connection during the spring semester of 2014. To date, 12 students have participated in the Cooperative Education and internship program.  In addition, one of their conference rooms was dedicated and named, “UAPB Conference Room”, at the Pine Bluff facility.

The Cooperative Education and internship program can ultimately assist the University with increasing enrollment by attracting and retaining top quality, well-motivated students. The program will also enhance visibility and reputation through interactions with employers and the community.

The students in the Stant program are: Victoria Hearns, junior, Business Administration – Management, Maywood, IL; Bregina Dickerson, senior, Accounting major, Pine Bluff, AR; Corvonte Dowdy, junior, Industrial Technology Management and Applied Engineering major, Lake Village, AR; Christopher Dutton, senior, Industrial Technology Management and Applied Engineering major, Pine Bluff, AR; Laneshia Booker, junior, Industrial Technology Management and Applied Engineering major, Chicago, IL; La’Keesha Franklin, senior, Industrial Technology Management and Applied Engineering major, Pine Bluff, AR; Rachel McAfee, senior, Accounting major, Pine Bluff, AR; and Meagon Jones, senior, Accounting major, Arlington, TX.

In 2013, a strategic plan was implemented through a grant that is financially supported in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education, Strengthening Institutions, Title III, Part B, Historically Black Colleges and Universities Program.  Maurice Carlton, job developer in the Office of Career Services, works on this portion of the grant to increase the number of local opportunities within Pine Bluff and Jefferson County. Local partnerships continue to be cultivated to create opportunities for UAPB students.
