The Department of Nursing at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff honored 31 junior and senior prelicensure nursing students during the first Gold-AACN White Coat Ceremony for Nursing recently. The ceremony recognized students for their achievement of readiness for clinical practicum experiences as part of the nursing curriculum. This recognition represents the faculty’s confidence that the students have demonstrated readiness to practice safely in the clinical environment.

Mrs. Faith A. Fields, MSN, RN, Retired Executive Director of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, was the speaker for the event which was attended by family and friends of the honorees and community representatives. Funding for the ceremony was made possible with a grant from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
