John Brown Watson library to host book review

The John Brown Watson Memorial Library at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will host Maria Hoskins as the featured author October 17, 2016. A book review and signing of her book, Down Home in Arkansas: A Family Reunion Story, will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Howard-Sykes Auditorium of the library. The event is free and open to the public.

Hoskins believes that everyone has a book within them, and she encourages young readers and writers to develop their stories and write their book. Hoskins has published two children’s books through her independent publishing company C & V 4 Seasons Publishing Company. Down Home in Arkansas: A Family Reunion Story, is her third book.

As part of a military family, Hoskins travelled within the United States before graduating from Hall High School in Little Rock and Philander Smith College with an undergraduate degree in English and Communications.

For over 14 years, Hoskins served as a Community Outreach Specialist for the Federal Government and has been employed in the field of community outreach for over 25 years. During her tenure in federal service, she spent ten years as the Senior District Staff for Arkansas 2nd Congressional District Congressman, Vic Snyder, until his retirement in January 2011.

“I am excited to share my books with students throughout Arkansas,” Hoskins said. “The purpose of my books is to share a happy memory from a moment in time.”
