Getting to Know SAFHS: Meet Iris Crosby

irisThe successes of the UAPB School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences are largely due to its dedicated employees who are passionate about their work. Our “Getting to Know SAFHS” series highlights some of our talented faculty and staff and lets you know a little more about them.

What is your job role at UAPB?
Extension and outreach manager at the Agriculture Demonstration and Outreach Center.

Where is your hometown?
Starkville, MS.

Where did you go to college?
Tuskegee University.

What did you major in?
Plant and soil sciences.

What year did you graduate?
1983.

What do you like most about your job?
I like working with different people including farmers and youth and making a difference.

Describe your career before you came to UAPB.
I worked with farmers.

If you weren’t working at UAPB, what would your dream job be?
I would be helping farmers and preaching.

What are your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy walking, spending time with family and praying.

Do you have a favorite book?
My favorite book is the Bible.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
I would go to Israel to see the places that Jesus lived and walked.

What is one goal you’d like to accomplish during your lifetime?
I would like to see UAPB’s sweet potato program grow.

Who is your hero?
George Washington Carver.
