LIONS Program offering $3,000 Scholarships until June 30

LIONSThe University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) is offering several more $3,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen in the Learning Institute and Opportunities for New Students, or LIONS Program. Apply and be admitted to UAPB the LIONS Program before June 30, 2016 to receive a scholarship for tuition, room, board, and books.

The LIONS program, in session from July 5th to August 5th, prepares admitted UAPB students for college academic rigor. Benefits of attending the program include: Completion of six credits of English and algebra;  Academic tutoring and enrichment sessions for English and algebra courses;  “College Knowledge” workshops and seminars to ensure a successful transition to college life; On-campus housing; Meeting other new freshman and UAPB faculty and staff; and Developing supportive relationships and lasting new friendships.

“LIONS participants benefit greatly because they can complete their foundation courses during the program, and their experiences contribute to a more academically prepared, socially mature and knowledgeable first-year student,” said Carolyn Mills, LIONS Program Director. L

Applications to the LIONS Program are available at and should be accompanied by admission to UAPB, campus housing and a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for summer session aid from the 2015-2016 academic year.
