A farm financial planning workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, at the Agriculture Demonstration and Outreach Center (ADOC), 330 Lee County Road 407 in Marianna. The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. with lunch.
“This workshop was originally scheduled for Jan. 22, but it had to be rescheduled because of the weather,” said Arlanda Jacobs, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Extension associate and a conference coordinator.
Aimed at current and beginning farmers and ranchers, the workshop will emphasize records and how they are used to calculate funds needed for your upcoming operation. Cash flow projections and repayment ability will also be included.
Farmers and ranchers will learn how to make and use balance sheets to determine the financial condition of an operation. Other tools necessary for an operation, such as enterprise budgets, break-even prices, cash land rent values and average yields of different enterprises will also be discussed. Questions about USDA loan applications will be answered.
Lunch will be provided. Contact Jacobs at (870) 714-5531 or Ernest Bradley, a conference coordinator and multicounty agent, at (870) 295-7720 to preregister and be included in the meal count. Also, contact them if you have special needs.
The workshop is sponsored by the UAPB Small Farm Program. The Arkansas Cooperative Extension Program offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, disability, marital or veteran status, genetic information, or any other legally protected status, and is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
