A livestock financial/production workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Boys, Girls, Adults Community Development Center (BGACDC) in Marvell, Arkansas. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 1 p.m.
Sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Small Farm Program, the workshop will cover both the production and economics of livestock production. Topics include herd health, winter feeding and preparing for calving; soil fertility and weed control; enterprise budgets and breakeven prices.
The Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) will also be discussed. LFP provides disaster payments to help offset grazing losses. The deadline to sign up for losses incurred during the 2015 drought is Jan. 30.
