A farm financial planning workshop is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 22, at the Lon Mann Cotton Research Station, Hwy 1 S, in Marianna. The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 1 p.m.
Aimed at current and beginning farmers and ranchers, the workshop will emphasize records and how they are used to calculate funds needed for an upcoming operation. Cash flow projections and repayment ability will also be included.
Farmers and ranchers will learn to make and use balance sheets to determine the financial condition of an operation. Other tools necessary for an operation, such as enterprise budgets, break-even prices, cash land rents values and average yields of different enterprises will also be discussed. Questions about USDA loan applications will be answered.
Lunch will be provided. Contact workshop coordinators Arlanda Jacobs, Extension associate, at (870) 714-5531 or Ernest Bradley, multicounty agent at (870) 295-7720 to pre-register and be included in the meal count. Also, contact them if you have special needs.
The workshop is sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Small Farm Program. The Arkansas Cooperative Extension Program offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, disability, marital or veteran status, genetic information, or any other legally protected status, and is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
