Applications for the annual UAPB/AM&N Homecoming Parade are now available, according to Florence Caine, Homecoming Parade chairperson. With the theme, “Golden,” the parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 14 with an updated route.
The parade will begin at the intersection of Martin and Main Streets, turning left at 6th street, then right to proceed down Walnut Street. The routes continues, making a right at 3rd street, left onto Main Street to finish at the Jefferson County Courthouse on Barraque Street.
A non-refundable application fee will be required for non-university sponsored organizations. The fees are as follows: cars– $50.00/each; motorcycles – $50.00/each; trucks/SUVs – $75.00/each, semi-trailer trucks (18 wheelers) – $100.00. Decorated floats and current elected officials are excluded. Fees may be paid in Corbin Hall, room 148. All fees and applications must be turned in on or before November 6 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cashier’s checks or money orders may be made payable to The UAPB Homecoming Committee (no personal checks or cash will be accepted).
Participants other than bands are asked to create a float that follows the homecoming theme. Trophies will be awarded this year to the group with the best float.
For local politicians who wish to participate, only incumbent national, state, county and city elected officials may participate in the parade. Campaign materials may not be displayed on the elected official’s vehicle. Also, identification of elected officials will be limited to name and office held.
