PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Dr. Laurence B. Alexander, chancellor of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) will be the opening night speaker during the 5th Annual African American Male Initiative Consortium Conference Thursday, February 19. Held in the Donaghey Student Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the event will begin at 6:00 p.m.
Hosted by the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, the conference will include tracks designed for students, administrators, and faculty. Students will engage in interactive workshops that focus on leadership, healthy choices, and student development while administrators will garner insight on how to lead their students to success.
The conference will focus on standards, benchmarks and strategies that must be in place to have effective African-American male student initiatives which increase the retention and graduation rates of this population of students in higher education.
