Kay Dutram joins UAPB Human Sciences Department as Director of Didactic Program Dietetics

Kay DutramFBPINE BLUFF, Ark. – Kay Dutram has been named director of the Didactic Program Dietetics (DPD) in the Department of Human Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She will provide leadership to the DPD and nutrition/dietetic degree program in the department.

She will also be responsible for DPD accreditation and manage recruitment, assessment and retention activities of the program. Dutram will also serve on various department and school committees.

“I am excited to have Ms. Dutram join our family,” Dr. Brenda Martin, chair of the Department of Human Sciences, said. “Ms. Dutram’s work experience with nutrition, public health policy, and accreditation will play a crucial role in growing our nutrition and dietetics program.”

Prior to this position, Dutram was a nutritionist for the Arkansas Department of Health, Southeast Region in Monticello, Arkansas. There, she provided education and counseling to high risk WIC participants.

From 1995 to 2012, she was a senior policy associate for Population Health and Health Policy at the University of Southern Maine. She served on their executive team and led in developing and implementing strategic plans for academic, research and practice initiatives to build capacity for public health policy and practice interventions.

Dutram has a master’s degree in human nutrition and a bachelor’s degree in foods and nutrition both from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She is a Registered Dietitian and is certified in human subjects research social and behavioral modules.
