SE Arkansas Housing Workshop set for Tuesday, Oct. 21 in Dermott

housePINE BLUFF, Ark. – A housing workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Dermott City Hall in Dermott. The workshop will end at 2 p.m.

Sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Small Farm Program in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Development agency, this workshop is a designed to inform individuals about the housing programs available to rural residents through Rural Development.

Attendees will learn about loans to purchase or build a home, loans to rehabilitate or improve homes and senior citizens home improvement grants. Eligibility requirements will also be discussed.

The workshop will also be hands-on with representatives from Rural Development to help residents with the paperwork to obtain grants or loans under the Rural Development’s home improvement program (504) and the home purchasing or building program (502), says Dr. Henry English, head of the UAPB Small Farm Program. Rural Development also provides grants of up to $7,200 to seniors for home improvements to help them stay in their homes.
