PINE BLUFF, Ark. – A housing workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 22, at the Wilmot Fire Station in Wilmot, Arkansas, aimed at residents in Wilmot and Parkdale. The workshop will end at 2 p.m.
Sponsored by the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Small Farm Program in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Development agency, this workshop is a follow-up to a previous one and will focus on helping citizens with the application process. Those who did not attend the previous workshop are welcome, too.
The workshop will be hands-on with representatives from Rural Development to help residents with the paperwork to obtain grants or loans under the Rural Development’s home improvement program (504) and the home purchasing or building program (502), says Dr. Henry English, head of the UAPB Small Farm Program. Rural Development also provides grants of up to $7,200 to seniors for home improvements to help them stay in their homes.
The workshop is free. For more information or if you have special needs, contact Travis Collins, UAPB program aide and meeting coordinator, at (870) 355-7007. The Wilmot Fire Station is located at 2804 Highway 165 in Wilmot.
