27th Annual Chancellor’s Benefit scheduled for February 22

ChanBenefitSliderPINE BLUFF, Ark. — University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) Chancellor Dr. Laurence Alexander announced the finalization of plans for the 27th Annual Chancellor’s Benefit for The Arts to be held February 22, 2014 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.

The benefit will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a reception and silent art auction featuring original art works by UAPB faculty, students, alumni and other Arkansas artists. Also available will be an assortment of framed art prints by regionally and nationally renowned artists. Dinner is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. with live entertainment followed by the recognition of this year’s honorees.

This year’s theme, “The Golden Era of Excellence”, will pay tribute to some of the many individuals who have worked tirelessly to serve UAPB, the Pine Bluff Community, and society in general through the years.  Regarding the theme, Dr. Alexander stated, “As we move forward, we will continue our quest in achieving the gold standard in overall academics – teaching, research, and service along with growth in size and stature of the student population.”

The annual black tie event was initiated in the fall of 1987 to generate funds for the continuation of the “Persistence of the Spirit” exhibit.  Now in its 27th season, the benefit’s goals and objectives have been broadened to include support for liberal arts and various cultural programs at UAPB.  Proceeds from this black tie event support the University Museum & Cultural Center, the Leedell Moorehead-Graham Gallery, scholarships for UAPB students as well as student gallery/museum tours for art students and performance tours for the theater, Vesper choir, and Jazz Ensemble.

“You have supported UAPB students in the past and we hope that you will continue to do so by purchasing a ticket or becoming a sponsor,” says Henri Linton, Chairperson of the event.

Tickets for the benefit are $100 per person with sponsorships available at the following levels:

  • Platinum ($3,000) – Reserved seating for 16 (two tables), listing as platinum sponsor in the souvenir program, listing as a contributing sponsor in promotional materials and eight reserved parking passes.
  • Gold ($1,750) – Reserved seating for eight (one table) listing as a gold sponsor in the souvenir program and promotional materials, and four reserved parking passes.
  • Silver ($1,200) – Reserved seating for six, listing as a silver sponsor in the souvenir program and promotional materials, and three reserved parking passes.
  • Bronze ($600) – Reserved seating for two, listing as a bronze sponsor in the souvenir program and promotional materials, and one reserved parking pass.
