Bobbie Crockett | School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – A workshop on basic cattle handling and management techniques will be held at 9:30 a.m. April 23 at the Chicot County Fairgrounds in Eudora. The workshop will be conducted by Dr. David Fernandez, Extension livestock specialist at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Cooperative Extension Program.

“This workshop is designed for people who are getting into the cattle business for the first time,” Dr. Fernandez said. “It’s also for those who have been in it for a short time and still have a lot of questions about the day-to-day what to do and how to do it.”

Producers will learn about safe cattle handling, deworming and medicating cattle, how to properly give an injection, basic herd health considerations and body condition scoring. The workshop will be hands-on so attendees should be prepared to work with cattle.

Participants need to pre-register by contacting Travis Collins at or 870-355-7007.
