PINE BLUFF, Ark. –Junior and Senior high school students will converge at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) February 21 to compete for a chance to win the 2013 Science Fair Exposition. An annual event held in the H.O. Clemmons Arena of the Kenneth L. Johnson, Sr. HPER Complex, the goal of the Expo is to enhance the readiness and competitiveness of students for the regional fairs at Monticello, Jonesboro, Batesville, Central Arkansas and the state fair at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.
The Expo is expected to include more than 150 participants throughout southeast Arkansas and will be conducted as an affiliated regional fair, following the state and national mandated rules governing research and the presentation/display of results. Preparation for college through the science fair experience strengthens students’ skills in math/science and develops personal skills related to dedication, perseverance and organization, which are vital to success in high school and college.
Judging will occur from 7:30 – 11 a.m. with an awards ceremony at 12:30 pm. Exhibits will be open to the public from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
