UA Board to host public forum on presidential search at UAPB

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas encourages students, faculty, staff and the general public to attend a public forum about the search for a new president of the University of Arkansas System in several locations around the State. The Pine Bluff forum will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) in the S.J. Parker 1890 Cooperative Extension Complex.

The Board of Trustees is seeking a replacement for current UA System President B. Alan Sugg, who plans to retire once the search is complete. UA Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Carl Johnson will host the forum to give the university community a chance to suggest candidates and provide input on the qualities they’d like to have in the new president. Other UA Trustees will also attend the public forum.

“We want to hear from the constituents of the University of Arkansas System about what type of person they would like to have as our new president,” Johnson said. “This is a very important search for the future of our university and the state of Arkansas. I hope that people will turn out and give us their thoughts on this process.”
Since its inception in 1871, the University of Arkansas System has developed a tradition of excellence that extends to five universities, five community colleges, a college of medicine, two schools of law, a presidential school, a math and science high school and divisions of agriculture, archeology and criminal justice. The individual entities of the UA System maintain cooperative strength as well as diverse offerings that exhibit unmatched economic and social impact to the state.
